Brighton

Morning! Volvemos a Inglaterra, pero por poco tiempo... Este fin de semana he visitado por fin una de las playas de este país: Brighton.

Morning! We return to England, but not for long ... This weekend I finally visited one of the beaches in this country: Brighton.

Se trata de una ciudad justo al sur de Reino Unido, a la que se puede llegar fácilmente en tren desde Londres y se tarda una hora y media aproximadamente. El tiempo aún no estaba como para llevar el bikini y la toalla, pero siendo de Canarias el mar es como una parte fundamental en todos los que nacimos allí y me crean o no, necesitaba verlo, olerlo y escucharlo.

Al llegar allí hay que hacer un pequeño recorrido por sus calles antes de llegar a la playa. Son calles encantadoras y coloridas con muchas tiendas y restaurantes. Me sorprendió la cantidad de gente que se paseaba por todas ellas, la mayoría evidentemente, turistas.

It is a city just south of the UK, which is easily reached by train from London and takes about an hour and a half. The weather was still not enough to bring the bikini and towel, but being from the Canary Islands the sea is a fundamental part in all people who were born there and believe it or not, I needed to see, smell and hear it.

When we got there you need to do a little tour through the streets before reaching the beach. They are charming and colorful streets with many shops and restaurants. I was surprised how many people who walked through them, most of them obviously were tourists.

Una de las paradas fundamentales aquí es el pabellón Royal Pavilion, antigua residencia real construida para el Rey Jorge IV de Reino Unido. Principalmente era una casa de campo con vistas al mar que el mismo rey fue agrandando y dándole un estilo de arquitectura francesa neoclásica con ideas añadidas también de las ruinas romanas y a la vez con un exterior influido por una estética india total. El resultado de tal mezcla no fue otro que este:

A important stop here is the pavilion Royal Pavilion, a former royal residence built for King George IV of the United Kingdom. Mainly it was a cottage with sea views which the king was enlarging and giving it a French neoclassical style architecture with added points also from the Roman ruins and with an outside influenced by total Indian aesthetics. The result of this mixture was none other than this:

A varios minutos de aquí se empieza a ver por fin el mar y puedes llegar a la avenida de la playa, desde donde contemplas una noria y un muelle típico americano. Es el Brighton Pier.

Se trata de uno de los muelles más antiguos, largos y más visitados del mundo. Está abierto al público desde 1899 y hoy en día se compone por un complejo de restaurantes y al fondo un parque de atracciones para niños y no tan niños.

A few minutes from here you can see the sea and you can reach the beach strip, where you contemplate a Ferris wheel and a typical American pier. It is the Brighton Pier.

This is one of the oldest, longest and most popular springs in the world. It is open to the public since 1899 and today consists of a complex of restaurants and merits an amusement park for children and not so young.

De repente, te encuentras con que puedes coger una silla y coger sol el tiempo que te apetezca y de forma gratuita. 

¡Es todo un lujo!

Suddenly, you can find a place where you can take a chair and feel the sun as long as you want and for free.

It's all a treat!

Desde esta plataforma hay unas magníficas vistas a la playa, en donde la gente estaba tomando sol pero sin quitarse la ropa, debido al aire frío que hace aún por aquí. Aunque parezca arena, la playa está compuesta de piedras, recordándome más aún a mi playa natal, Agaete.

From this platform there are a good views of the beach, where people were sunbathing without removing clothes due to cold air still doing here. The beach looks like with sand, but it is made of stones, further reminding my home beach, Agaete.

Hasta aquí esta agradable visita que me recargó las pilas para aguantar un poco más por tierras Inglesas hasta que me toque regresar a casa, que será en breve. 

Y como dice esa bonita frase:

"En la mirada de un isleño siempre se ve la mar"

Until here this pleasant visit which recharged me the batteries and keep me strong to be a little more for England until I go home, it will be soon.

And says that beautiful phrase:

"In the eyes of an islander you always see the sea"
