Kingston upon Thames

Comenzamos otra semana más, con un nuevo rincón de Londres para descubrir. Esta vez le tocó el turno a Kingston upon Thames, un pequeño pueblo al suroeste de la capital muy encantador. Se tarda media hora para llegar hasta él desde la estación de London Victoria, haciendo un cambio de tren en Clapham Junction.

El nombre de Kingston viene del inglés antiguo: Kinges Tun, tierra de reyes, debido a que esta localidad se relaciona con la realeza porque se dice que los siete reyes sajones fueron coronados aquí, en esta piedra de coronación que es el símbolo histórico más importante del municipio.

We begin another week with a new corner of London to discover. This time it was the turn of Kingston upon Thames, a small town southwest of the very charming capital. It takes half an hour to get there from London Victoria station, with a change of train at Clapham Junction.

The name of Kingston comes from the Old English: Kings Tun, land of kings, because this town is associated with royalty. It is said that the seven Saxon kings were crowned here in this coronation stone which is the most important historical symbol the municipality.

Podemos encontrar importantes edificaciones como un museo, iglesia y mercado que hacen de este lugar aún más entrañable, parece de cuento.

Pero el lugar más típico para sacarse fotos aquí es la calle de Old London Road donde se encuentra una escultura emblemática de cabinas telefónicas acostadas como piezas de dominó y realizada por David Mach en 1988, a la cual llamó "Out of Order" (fuera de servicio).

We can find important buildings as a museum, church and market that make this even more endearing, it seems a tale.

But the most typical place to take pictures here is the street of Old London Road which is an iconic sculpture of telephone booths like dominoes and performed by David Mach in 1988, which he called "Out of Order".

Aproveché para tomarme fotos del look al lado de ellas ya que tienen una forma muy divertida. En este lugar, no se si se debe a que está al lado del río Támesis, pasé un frío como nunca en estos tres meses de estancia en tierras inglesas, por lo que quizás debí haber ido un poco más abrigada.

Opté por llevar mi parka con una camisa navy debajo, a juego con gorro y botas color mostaza, haciendo un look muy cómodo pero desgraciadamente no tan abrigado como me hubiese gustado.

I took the opportunity to take pictures of the look beside them as they have a very funny way. In this place, not if it is that is beside the River Thames, I spent a cold as never in these three months in English soil, so maybe I should have gone a little warmer.

I opted to wear my parka with a navy shirt underneath, and hat and boots mustard color, making a very comfortable look but unfortunately not as warm as I would have liked.

¿Se nota que estoy yendo al gimnasio? Jajajaja

Llevo parka de New Look, camiseta y jeans de Zara, botas de Stradivarius y pasamontañas de Primark.

Para finalizar dimos una vuelta por los alrededores y me sorprendió la cantidad de tiendas que tiene este pueblo siendo tan pequeño, e incluso cuenta con un centro comercial enorme y muy bien edificado.

I wear parka from New Look, shirt and jeans from Zara, Stradivarius boots and hat from Primark.

Finally we toured around and was surprised how many stores that have this town being so small, and even has a huge and very well built shopping center.
